Q&A with our CEO

Sun 6th Aug 2017 - 10:33am General

We sat down with our CEO, Atle S. Stehouwer, and asked him some questions about the future of Team Singularity.

1. How does it feel breaking through the barrier?
2017 has been a big year for the organization so far, and I’m so proud of all our players and teams! It feels great breaking through the barrier, but I must admit it’s been a tough journey getting here. After winning CPH Games and entering the official world top 20 in CS:GO, everything within the organization fast forwarded 1-2 years, and we were definitely not ready to take everything to the next level that fast, but I think we handled it in the best possible way with the tools we had.

2. What will your main focus be in the rest of 2017?
We decided earlier this year to enter more game titles, and we see great opportunities in both our Overwatch and Dota 2 teams. I think we’ll focus on grinding the various official world ranks in all game titles we’re active in, but the primary focus will always be to develop the talents, and help the teams coming closer together as a family.

3. How did/do you feel about the CS:GO team leaving?
I felt it was a very strange situation, and in the start I was very sad about the decision the players made. I can easily understand the situation seen with the eyes of the players. They just won CPH Games, entered the world top 20 and was looking to make the most of the powerful position they were in. They weren’t able to live full time of our contracts, and Tricked eSports could provide that security going forward.
We tried to handle the ‘divorce’ as adults, and even though the team had 2 months left on their contracts, we instantly announced the separation good time in advance, allowing the players to seek greater offers as a team or individuals.
Even though I might not agree with all the decisions made looking in long term, then I wish them all the best going forward, and hopefully AnJ will make a huge individual impact in NRG!

It’s never easy letting go of something you created or put all your efforts into, but I think there’s something beautiful in spotting talents early, and help them to make their dreams come true. article:

4. When will we see a new CS:GO team presented in Singularity?
Actually we signed a team the 1st of August, but we’ll announce it official later this month. I’m pretty fucking excited, and I’m looking forward to share the details with everyone!

5. What’s does the future of Team Singularity hold?

- Expand into more relevant esport game titles
- All players on full time contracts
- Establishing gaming house
And so much more, but we’ll keep you updated on our journey all the way!
