GLL Grand Slam Report

POSTED BY Webmaster July 29, 2019

After a great performance in the GLL Latam Master Series and the LA league season 3, with 3 slots for the South American region, our PUBG roster qualified for their first major, phase 2 GLL Grand Slam!

On the 7th of July we were all on our way to Sweden! There was long flights for everyone involved, about 25 hours on average. We couldn’t travel together but still made it to Stockholm without any major issues. Once in Stockholm, we got to meet our CEO Atle, he treated us in the best way possible, welcoming us with pizza and snacks that lasted all week and a bunch of merch!

“It was a great experience, we got together with our online friends which we spend most of our time with, we had fun and we got mad at each other, it was nice meeting everyone since we live so spread out.

GLL received us with a smile, they gave us some gifts and many good vibes, it was a perfect stay and the most important, special days where we could share happy moments with the rest of the tournament players. GLL treated us 10/10! They found a way to keep us occupied and enjoy the tournament as much as possible, we ate well and we had practice before the tournament. They gave us everything we needed.

I’m happy to share such a beautiful experience with the team, other players and GLL organizers and I hope it happens again soon.” Iván “p0me” Lucco

Europe is a very different setting than South America, but Stockholm is amazing, everything was well organized, and it was very easy to move around the city using public transport. We were staying 15 minutes away from our bootcamp and on our way there, we could see lots of green and beautiful architecture.

We did our bootcamp in the internet café Inferno Online where we were treated and helped with any issues that we had. Between laughs, excitement and frustration we had a blast, at the end all we wanted was for the Grand Slam weekend to start.

The week before the tournament was filled with activities, GLL that had outdoor and indoor media days prepared for us, we took a day off to get to know Stockholm. Our outdoor media days were with the guys from Australia. We laugh, joked and hyped each other up, I’m certain we made some good long-lasting friendships with some of them now.

Back at the hotel and the venue, we got to talk to some of the stars in the scene and enjoy the delicious food served. It felt great hanging out with so many people of different backgrounds and it was amazing watching the stage and the effort put into this event.

We met Andrei “Relu” Matei on that same week, and he was there for us during that time, always attentive of our schedule for the days prior and the days of the event. Later, Atle was back from Berlin for the final day.

We had a rough first day; we were competing against the best of the best. On the second and third day we had a better performance, we put up a fight against the biggest names on eSports, but it was still hard to rack up points and leaderboard rankings. Even when our performance was not the best, there was many highlights and everyone could feel the energy from LATAM.

We are all glad that at least one team from the region could step up and show that there is talent. I want to thank everyone for spamming our logo on twitch and sharing our multiple highlights on twitter. We learned a lot as a team, we are going to work on our mistakes, and we will be better moving forward.

Now it’s time for the Nations Royale cup in Seoul, where p0me and RiboxD will be representing Argentina. We hope them the best in that new adventure.
Stay tuned and see you in phase 3!”
