Team Singularity are excited to announce a partnership with Grey High School which is based in South Africa. This is our first partnership with an African based club and we are highly motivated to grow in the region. Grey Boys’ High School is renowned for being a leading school in the country and has a great value system which supports its competitiveness and excellence in academic, sporting and cultural activities.
In 2016, The Gaming Club at Grey Boys High School was introduced and it provides the members the opportunity to compete against other schools all around the country. There are three main competitive games in which the members compete, being : Counter Strike Global Offensive, League of legends and DOTA 2. The club is affiliated with the High School Esports League (HSEL) which has over 20 member schools involved. It is a great and unique environment for the members to represent the school. On the less competitive side the club hosts 24 hour LANS, where members come together on the school campus and game in a social and fun environment.
“This is Team Singularity’s first involvement in Africa. I am very excited to dive in with this partnership as there is a promising potential to find a breakout star in the region. Africa is growing daily with the interests of esports, and has a few known organisations worldwide that already create homegrown talent. We are excited to go above and beyond for the students, and help them develop their game and take on the world.”
Curtis Bottomley, CGO & Academy Manager at Team Singularity.
“South Africa is probably not the most thought of region but with a growing esports scene this can be an interesting one to see, which hidden talents are in the region. We have already in CS:GO seen players from South Africa play for North America teams, and with a dedicated High School league this partnership comes with a lot of benefits for both Grey Boys High School and Team Singularity.“
Jesper Jever, Partnerships Manager at Team Singularity.
“The Grey High School Gaming Club is extremely excited to partner with Team Singularity. We believe that this partnership will give our learners the opportunity to reach their full potential in gaming and a possibility of an E-sports career.”
Zaine Marx, Master in Charge of Esports at Grey High School
